Further & Higher Education

The majority of our students will move on to Further Education when they leave John Spence. This will typically be a level 3 course or A levels. Higher Education is the continuation of study beyond the age of 18 for example a University degree.

We work with a large range of local further and higher education establishments to ensure our pupils have the up to date knowledge and information on courses available and entry requirements. We have a dedicated Higher Education Champion Nikki Benson, who has established very close links with our local Universities, and arranges a large variety of activities with them including assemblies, mentoring and campus tours.

Our partner organisation is Tynecoast College which includes Tynemet College, South Shields MArine School and Queen Alexandra Sixth form. We work closely with these organisations to offer meaningful encounters for our pupils including mock interviews, drop in Q&A sessions and taster days.
