Wednesday 21st June 2017 4.00 – 5.15 at John Spence Field
Now the weather is bright and sunny, we look forwards to getting outside and basking in the fine British Summer sunshine! Get out the shades, sun cream and shorts because it is Rounders time. An great event for both boys and girls to compete against each other, using their striking and fielding skills to outwit each other by scoring the most rounders. Teams will be using their batting, bowling, throwing and catching skills in order to beat the opposition.
The team who does the best will receive the annual Rounders trophy as well as collecting a medal per player. If that was not enough, they will also represent John Spence against the winners of the other schools in the North Tyneside finals later in the term. This is the last event of the year where pupils can compete against each other before leaving their respective primary schools and going onto pastures new. Hopefully many will join together and become great team mates at John Spence, representing the school for many years to come!

Results
Three schools attending the event would result in four teams battling it out to become Rounders Champions with Christ Church entering two teams! Three round of fixtures would mean that each team would play each other once and earn 5 points for a win, 3 for a draw and 1 point for a loss.
Round 1 consisted of Christ Church 1 taking on King Edwards. An extremely close game by two very skilful teams was edged by King Edwards 5 to 4.5! In the other game, a solid batting performance and good fielding meant Whitehouse took the game 2-0 against the second Christ Church team.
Round 2 resulted in another extremely close game. This one went to the final batter in what would be an excellent half rounder to earn Whitehouse the victory against Christ Church 1 with the scores being 4 to 4.5. King Edwards were in full swing now and managed to score 4.5 against Christ Church 2’s 2.5 rounders.
Round 3 resulted in the battle of Christ Church and it was the second team who managed to take the game 3 to 1.5 against their other team! The game was played in great spirit with fun and laughter along the way.
In the same round, the two unbeaten teams, King Edwards and Whitehouse came face to face! Batting first King Edwards set a good score of 3.5 rounders and then fielded really well to minimise Whitehouse to just 1 rounder. The final has skill, team work, determination and some exceptional images of progression! Two worthy teams in a close, but successful final for King Edwards
An interesting evening overall, but one with many highlights and some excellent play! We wish King Edwards good luck on Wednesday in the North Tyneside finals, again to be played here at John Spence. Good luck!
