Key Stage 3 Sporting Academies

Good afternoon

It is with great pleasure that I contact you to inform you of the launch of this year’s Key Stage 3 (Yr7-9) Sporting Academies. The Academies play a major role in our KS3 offer involving, on average 200 pupils every Thursday morning, taking part in a sport which they wish to play/perform.

Each year we host OPEN SESSIONS for pupils to try out the different sports before decisions by staff / coaches are made on who they will accept onto the programme for the year. There are 8 different sports on offer and pupils are encouraged to attend the sport which they feel will be the right one for them for that year. Final places are restricted so punctuality, organisation and behaviour will all be taken into consideration when making final decisions.

The poster below outlines the information needed for these OPEN SESSIONS. I will also be going into Year group assemblies giving more information to the pupil’s face to face.

It is imperative that all pupils (unless timetabled for PE that day) change back into FULL SCHOOL UNIFORM after the sessions.

This initiative is open to all Key Stage 3 pupils and we look forward to seeing the turnout for our first session which is on Thursday 21st September starting at 8.30am.
