Headteacher Update

March 2023

Last night we held our first Arts Evening where parents were invited to listen to performances, view GCSE artwork and also hear about the amazing work that happens at our Performing Arts Academy. It was a lovely evening with some incredible performances, it was great to see so many talented students both in the performances we heard as well as in the artwork that was displayed; it was also great to see some students perform who had never done so in public before! A special well done to Jessica, Freya and Naima who won the top 3 art prizes and also a big thank you to Mr and Mrs Holland who arranged the evening along with Mrs Martin and Mrs Entwisle. Students involved in the performing arts academy were able to add to their portfolio of evidence for the Bronze and Silver Arts Award, which is a nationally recognised award, so well done to them as well!

The academisation consultation is now at its midway point and on Monday we held a parent drop in event. One question that was raised, is when will we share this information with the students? The answer is in my assemblies in the week before the Easter Holidays – the main message will be that they will notice very little, if anything, that is different other than the colour of our lanyards! In order to try and gather some more responses for the consultation, I have attached a very brief survey to complete. In order to complete it you will need to have read the rationale document found here from the consultation. I am really keen to hear from parents about their views, so please do have a look if you have time to do so.

I hope you all have a good weekend, especially as it appears sprig has arrived today following snow earlier in the week!

Best wishes

Jonathan
