The school day is broken down into five one-hour lessons, with a morning and afternoon registration period.

The school policy is that all students in Years 7-10 remain on the premises at lunchtime. We have excellent facilities for all students wanting to take a school meal and provision is also made for those who wish to bring a packed lunch. Students in Year 11 can leave the site at lunchtime or can choose to stay for lunch. Those students who do leave the site for lunch are expected to behave sensibly and not drop litter.

The next school year is almost here! If you’re child doesn’t already travel to school by bus, have you thought about this as an option for the next academic year?
Arriva monthly direct debit passes allow travel for as little as £1 per day, depending on your child’s age and the area that they travel in. Your child will get unlimited access to travel on any Arriva bus across all of our routes within your chosen travel zone.
The pass will not only cover their travel to and from school/college, it can also be used to travel in leisure time too.
Arriva’s Direct Debit scheme allows you to spread the cost of your child’s ticket over affordable monthly payments. It’s an easy way to pay for travel and there’s no contract involved.

Once registered, you can choose to either receive your monthly pass by post, or it can be sent to your child’s mobile phone. This ticket will rollover every month for as long as the direct debit remains active.

School Meals: A new cashless system
As part of our work to make school catering Covid-Secure, from the start of the new term in September, our school will operate a cashless system for payment of school meals. This system will ensure all our students are able to pay for school meals safely without the risks associated with handling cash. Cash will no longer be taken to pay for school meals, but our new cashless system will offer you and your child a range of ways to pay onsite or online.
Online for September
To ensure our catering services are ready for the reopening of schools in September we’ll need to enrol all students onto this new cashless system. To give you the ability to pay online, if required. We’ll be creating accounts with ParentPay. This online payment system is quick and easy to set up. It’ll keep you informed about your child’s purchases, the balance on their account, and when to top-up.
Free school meals students
Our new cashless system is designed to work the same for all students regardless of free school meal entitlement. Students who are entitled to free school meals will not be highlighted at the till. All student accounts are accessed at the tills using exactly the same manner regardless of their entitlement.
What data will we hold?
If you choose to pay through ParentPay, they will hold details of your email address and your child’s name, year group and class. The system will also record if a student is eligible for free school meals. All your data will be handled according to the General Data Protection Regulations and North Tyneside Councils rigorous standards for data handling.
You will receive a ParentPay activation letter in the next couple of weeks. Please follow the instructions and activate your account before the 1st September. Both the school and the council appreciate your cooperation on this matter to ensure the continuation of staff and student safety.

As you will be aware, our catering provider introduced the ParentPay cashless system for school meal payments from September. As not everyone’s accounts were set up for the start of term parents were initially unable to see their child’s balance on the account.
All accounts have now been synched therefore meals taken, and payments made can now be viewed on your account. When the accounts were synched on 16th September, meals taken prior to that date have been grouped together as one charge on your account.
For example, your account may show a charge of £9.00 on 16th September, this relates to 4 meals @ £2.25 taken since the start of term. This will show on a ParentPay report as Adjustment made to match Till balance.
Please check your child’s account regularly to ensure they are only having meals when you want them to.
