Testing Update 07.01.2021
In line with government guidance we will be launching our testing programme from tomorrow for staff and students who are in school. We are hoping to have completed the first two tests by the end of next week. In order for us to proceed we need your consent to test your child. The documents below provide information around the reasons for testing, the process itself, data protection and the online consent form.
The testing programme is designed to further reduce the risk of transmission in schools by identifying individuals that have the virus, but are asymptomatic, which accounts for about one third of all cases. The process involves an initial two tests 3-5 days apart and this will be followed a weekly testing programme until half term.
Once we have your consent we will notify your child with the date and time of their test. The test involves students administering a swab to their tonsils and up their nose; they will be closely supervised by school staff. The nature of the tests mean that we have results within 30 minutes so if your child did test positive we would get in touch straight away. We are also required to register test results with the NHS who will contact you directly if a test is positive. If tests are negative your child will obviously remain in school unless they have any symptoms of the virus. Full information can be found in the links below.
The testing process is not the most pleasant thing in the world, but it is crucial in keeping everyone as safe as possible and preparing for a future return of all students to school so please do complete the form as soon as possible so that we can proceed. Please do get in touch and ask to speak to Mrs Clay or me if you would like to discuss the testing programme in more detail.
Please can you complete the consent form as soon as possible.
