We recognise that moving schools can be daunting, we are determined to ensure all of our new students are supported throughout this process so that the transition is as smooth as possible.
We recognise the significant impact that the closure of Monkseaton High School has for many families in North Tyneside. At John Spence we are determined to make the transition of any child joining us, either from Monkseaton High School Year 9 or middle school Year 8 children, as smooth as it can be so that there is no detrimental impact on their education. We have been working behind the scenes to create additional capacity in these two year groups to help ensure that as parents you have choice about where you can send your child. We are able to do this within existing buildings and with existing staffing meaning that disruption will be kept to an absolute minimum.
As a North Tyneside resident I know that in times of challenge our community will come together and find a solution. This is reflected in our school and I am exceptionally proud of the community that is John Spence; I would be delighted if you choose to trust us with the ongoing support and education of your child. This page is designed to be a one stop shop for the most important information you need to help you make your decision as well as understand who we are as a school and the day to day practicalities. Can I draw your attention to the information packs as these have been put together specifically for parents impacted by this decision.
Our information evening will take place on 9th January at 5.30pm for parents of Year 8 children and at 6.15pm for parents of Year 9 children. The evening will be a 20 minute presentation about the school followed by an opportunity to meet senior staff, the Head of Year, the SENCO and some students. I have also appointed transition leads, Mrs Wyllie and Miss Howard, to oversee the process and they will initially be your main point of contact.
Please do contact the school via email, [email protected] , if you require any additional information and someone will get back to you as quickly as possible. We will keep this dedicated page of the website updated as and when additional information needs to be shared.
