Unbelievably we are at the end of the first half term of the year. It has been a strange, busy and at times frustrating 6 weeks as we await the end of lockdown, but overall the John Spence community have once again come together and shown what can be achieved when we look out for one another.
Please note that school will be closed next week and will reopen on Monday 22nd February for critical workers and vulnerable students only. We are expecting to hear details on the reopening of schools on Monday 22nd and will obviously respond and get information out to parents as quickly as possible, but in the meantime remote learning will continue. In recognition of the length of period out of school and the amount of screen time we will be putting ‘5 minute boosts’ into lessons in the week commencing 1st March where students will have a 5 minute activity during every lesson that will take them away from the screen. In KS3 we will also be holding a Capital of Culture challenge on 5th March which will follow an Escape Room type series of challenges travelling remotely through some iconic North Shields landmarks. More details to follow.
If your child has been attending school this week and develops either Covid symptoms and/or tests positive before 5pm on Sunday then please email the school email@example.com with the following details:
- Your child’s name
- Your child’s year group
- Date symptoms first identified
- Date of test
- Date of positive test result
And finally, we are all very excited to share a world exclusive with you…
The Lockdown Blues that we have all felt has now been immortalised in a song, written by our Music Peripatetic Teacher Mike Watson and coordinated and filmed by our very own Mr Grazzer. The link below will take you to an exclusive play of John Spence staff performing the Lockdown Blues, enjoy…
Best wishes and stay safe
