Students at John Spence Community High School achieved some very good results in their examinations this year.
This year's examination results saw 76% of our students achieving an A*-C grade in maths and 74% doing so in English, whilst 89% gained two or more A*-C grades in science.
Overall 65% of our students gained five or more A*-C grades including English and maths.
These results, as ever, were achieved by the hard work and dedication of students and staff, coupled with the support students received from home.
Our overall success as a school is, of course, made up from many, many individual success stories. Sarah Wind's story is one example.
Notable amongst the many successful students in Year 11 this year was Sarah Wind who achieved amazing success in her maths exams. An extremely talented student, Sarah sat GCSE Maths and GCSE Further Maths in Year 10 and gained an A* and an A^ (an A* with distinction) respectively in these two exams.
Not content with her success in Year 10 Sarah began an A Level course in Maths and easily gained grade A's in all three of her A Level modules, securing a Grade A in her AS Level (this is the highest grade you can get).
This phenomenal achievement was topped off with a further eight GCSE passes - five at A* and three at Grade A - in Sarah's other subjects. Sarah is to be commended on a truly amazing set of results.
