We aim to teach the students to use ICT sensibly; to plan what they need to do; to choose the appropriate software; to use it correctly; to evaluate what they have done; and on the basis of that evaluation to refine what they do in future.
In advanced courses we also aim to teach the students to appreciate the needs of users of ICT systems; to have an understanding of how these systems work and perform; and to design systems that meet the needs of users.
We are embracing the changes to the ICT curriculum. In Years 7 and 8 the core themes of the curriculum are focused around Digital Life, Digital Tools and Digital Technologies embracing coding and elements of computing as part of a coherent, broad and balanced ICT Curriculum.
Year 9: Undertake a practice coursework in preparation for Key Stage 4.
In Key Stage 4 pupils will follow the Cambridge National in ICT. This is equivalent to one GCSE. They will study the following Units:
