Ethics and Philosophy

Cultural Studies

In Year7-9 we explore the religious beliefs of Christian's, Muslims and Sikhs. We consider their thoughts on lots of different and relevant issues such as Celebrations, God, Rules, Art and even Food!

We go on trips to local places of worship and students are often given the oportunity to think about and discuss their own personal beliefs and opinions!

Ethics and Philosophy

In Year 10 and 11 all pupils are given the opportunity to gain a full GCSE. We follow AQA Unit B ‘Religion and Life Issues’ in Y10. This allows us to look at topical issues such as Prejudice and Discrimination, Animal Rights, War and Peace, Abortion, The Environment, and Young People.

In Year 11 we consider ‘Religion and Morality’ and we learn about Religious attitudes to Drugs, Medical Ethics and Cloning, Crime and Punishment and Poverty.

It is a relevant and useful way of discussing students own opinions in an informed and reflective way.

The Ethics and Philosophy staff are:
