Each year group has a Head of Year who has oversight of the pastoral and academic development of every student in their year group. Heads of Year stay with their year group as students progress through the school, so students should have the same Head of Year throughout their time at John Spence
The Head of Year should usually be the first point of contact for parents who wish to discuss any concerns they might have. The Heads of Year are:

The Heads of Year team is led by Simon Roberts, the Assistant Headteacher with overall responsibility for student welfare.

At John Spence Community High School we believe that it is absolutely crucial for students to attend school as regularly as possible if they are going to succeed. Yvonne Lyster is our ‘Home/School Liaison Officer’ and is available to talk on any issue regarding attendance.
We use an electronic registration system so are aware on a 'lesson by lesson' basis attendance in the school. This means that we can give parents up to date information on the attendance of their child.
